How to turn an Excel or CSV export into a video

Kario Team · October 25, 2026 · 2 min read

Kario makes videos from spreadsheet exports. Attach the file in the chat (.xlsx, .xls, .csv or .ods) and say what the numbers should show. Kario reads every sheet and builds the video from the rows: totals that count up, a chart drawn from the columns, the moment that explains a change, all as layers you can edit.

The video above is a 14.5-second September report for Fernbill, an invoicing app. It was made from one export: fernbill-september-2026.xlsx, 30 rows, one per day.

The export

Date,Invoices sent,Paid (USD),Median days to paid
2026-09-01,507,110893.25,9.3
2026-09-02,521,109229.62,9.2
...
2026-09-15,495,116779.86,8.9

One fact came with it: Fernbill switched on automatic payment reminders on 15 September. The video had to show what happened to how fast clients paid.

What Kario made from it

  • The column totals, 12,408 invoices sent and $2.73M paid, counting up and landing on the beat.
  • Median days to paid, drawn day by day, with the day's value riding the head of the line, from 9.3 days on 1 September to 6.1 on the 30th.
  • The row that explains it. As the line reaches 15 September, a marker drops in: "Reminders on, Sep 15".
  • The headline the numbers prove, "Paid 3 days faster", once the line has landed.
  • Fernbill's own line for the end card, "Invoice in a minute, paid in days."

Every number is a text layer and the line is a shape, so a corrected value is a retype, not a new video.

What to send

  • The export. Kario reads up to about 20,000 characters of it, a few hundred rows, so export the range the video covers and delete sheets it doesn't need.
  • The sentence the numbers prove, or the question you want answered. It becomes the headline and decides which column the video is about.
  • The moment that explains the change, if there is one: a launch, a price change, a new market.
  • Where it's going. 16:9 for a deck or an update email, 1:1 or 4:5 for LinkedIn, 9:16 for Reels. Each comes as a board in the same project, laid out for its frame.

Kario makes one video per request. For a version per region or per client from the same export, ask for each as its own board in the project.

Next month

Attach October's export in the same project and ask for the numbers updated. The layout, colours and timing stay, and the totals, line and headline are rebuilt from the new rows.
