How to turn release notes into a feature announcement video

Kario Team · November 1, 2026 · 3 min read

Kario turns release notes into a feature announcement video. Paste the changelog entry and attach screenshots of the screens that changed. Kario rebuilds the screens as layers and shows each item working: the tap, the loading state, the confirmation. One feature or a whole release, it's the same brief.

The video above is a 22-second announcement for Halo 2.4. Halo is a debit-card app, and this release has three items.

The release notes

Halo 2.4 · November 1, 2026

- Split any payment with friends
- Round up card purchases into Savings
- Freeze your card from Home

With them: screenshots of Home, a transaction, the new split screen and its confirmation, plus one line on which item leads. Splitting payments was the headline, so it gets most of the video.

What happens in it

  • The release notes open the video, in Halo's colours, one line at a time. They stay on screen while the phone comes in, with a band on the item being shown.
  • The split, start to finish. A dinner opens from the activity list, "Split this payment" is tapped, Maya and Sam are picked, and "Each pays" works out live from €84.00 to €42.00 to €28.00. Send shows a spinner, then the "Requests sent" sheet. The dinner in the list now reads "Split with Maya and Sam".
  • Round-ups in one tap. The switch on the Savings card is turned on, a coffee comes in at €3.60, and €0.40 drops into Savings, which goes from €212.40 to €212.80. The balance changes where the app would change it.
  • Freeze in one tap. "Freeze" frosts the card and becomes "Unfreeze".
  • Each note gets a tick when the phone confirms it, then the end card says "Halo 2.4 is out."

There's no voiceover. The words on screen are the app's own labels and the release notes, so it works muted.

What to send

  • The changelog entry, as you'd publish it, so the video uses your item names.
  • Which item leads, if one matters more. Ask for that one in full and the rest briefly, as in Halo's video.
  • Screenshots of what changed: the screen before, the new screen, and the result. For a redesign, send the old screen too and Kario shows one giving way to the other.
  • Where it's going. 16:9 for the changelog page and site, 1:1 or 4:5 for LinkedIn and X, 9:16 for Reels. Each comes as a board in the same project.

On LinkedIn, videos play without sound as people scroll and loop when they're under 30 seconds (LinkedIn Help). Keep it short and let the screens carry it.

One feature or the whole release

For one feature, send its line and its screens and ask for 15 to 20 seconds. For a release, send the whole entry. In Halo's video the notes stay on screen as an index, so viewers see how much shipped while they watch each item.

The next release

Keep every announcement in the same project. For 2.5, ask for a new board, paste the new notes and attach the new screens. The intro, the phone, the colours and the end card carry over, and the screens are layers, so a renamed button is a retype, not a new screenshot.

Feature announcement videos has more on making a series of them.
